Snafu stands for Situation Normal, All Fouled Up, and Private Snafu is the main character in this series of movies produced during World War II.

Written by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) and produced by Warner Bros. animation studios, these movies were commissioned by the U.S. Army to train the troops. Voices were provided by the eternally celebrated Mel Blanc. This is from the golden age of cartoons.

You’ll find eighteen episodes, which are available on the iPhone for the first time as well as a historical overview. Some of the highlights include:

“Spies” - Snafu leaks classified information a little at a time until the enemies piece it together, ambushes his transport ship, and literally blows him up.

“Camouflage” – Hilarious look at how a solider is to use and not use camouflage.

“Booby Trap” – How to avoid booby traps which may be setup by the enemy. In the end Snafu gets blown up by an exploding piano.

“Gas” – Training on using a gas mask, with the fumbling Snafu making mistake after mistake and blowing himself up.

“Snafuperman” - The Technical Fairy transforms Snafu into a superhero who takes bungling to a super-powered level through his carelessness.

“Malaria Mike” – Training in which Snafu neglects to take his malaria medications or to use his repellant, allowing a suave mosquito to get him in the end.

“Seamen Tarfu in The Navy” – Special episodes of Private Snafu’s Brother, Tarfu who is in the Navy.

You’ll want to watch and re-watch each of these eighteen videos. Also includes special informational history and overview of Private Snafu.

This is a hilarious peak in to American History and World War II nostalgia.
